The Atelier 105 post-production residency celebrates its tenth anniversary this year, with over 150 films supported to completion so far and many others currently in progress. Not only an invaluable technical tool for filmmakers working independently, it is also a space for artistic exchange that is as beneficial for the residents as it is for Light Cone's collection, which thus finds itself continually challenged and renewed.
The films selected for this program were completed between 2022 and 2023 and have been brought together around a common thread: major architectural and urban planning projects. Having fascinated cinema throughout its existence, they now attract an increasingly complex and critical gaze. Can we foil human hubris and put a stop to relentless growth? How to resist urban alienation and preserve affective ties? The films engage with these concerns by proposing a range of perspectives and strategies – from a contemplative, dystopian or even post-apocalyptic stance, to flânerie and the creation of informal networks situated on the fringes of urban centers and based on curiosity and play.
Atelier 105 is a residency program offered by Light Cone with the support of the Île-de-France Region.
