In the Andean-Amazonian foothills of Putumayo, mopa-mopa resin continues to be gathered and sent to the artisans of Nariño, maintaining an ancient bond between the two regions. The film follows one of the harvesters before immersing us in the transformation of the resin, where the artisans’ hands gradually reveal an ancestral, almost alchemical knowledge. mopa mopa delves into these artisanal traditions of southwestern Colombia, exploring the relationship between the vegetal and the human worlds through the barniz de Pasto, a pre-Hispanic artisanal practice made from this resin.
