Coinciding with the unveiling of Emmanuel Lefrant’s installation The Black and White Lodge, the Rue Antoine gallery is presenting a 16mm screening of experimental films from the Light Cone collection. Curated in conjunction with the exhibition The owls are not what they seem, the program explores the motif of the double — specifically, the figure of the artist depicting themselves alongside their own double. Illusions, alter egos, mirror images, ghosts, and reflected identities offer various ways to approach the impenetrable.
The Black and White Lodge
Installation by Emmanuel Lefrant
16mm projector, silent 16mm film, wooden screen-sculpture, suspended film loop mechanism.
On view from October 9, 6pm, until October 17
The Black and White Lodge is a site-specific installation created for the Rue Antoine gallery’s "Red Room." It features a rectangular, black-and-white wooden sculpture set upon a pedestal. The back of the sculpture serves as a screen for the 16mm film projected in a continuous loop; this loop travels through a frame suspended above the projector, reproducing the same motif found in both the sculpture and the film—creating a triangular, concentric interplay of mirrors.
Experimental films screening at 20:30
