"There’s a number on screen. It keeps increasing. It might be time. It might be something else.
I see the last place I could call home, ten years ago. Memories, rupture, a fall. Home? Now, behind the door there’s a man who will decide my fate. I must wait. I wait.
The number rises, stops, shuffles. I follow it closely. I see glimpses of my first exile, my second exile, my mom, my sister. I go through files: a painting, a room, images. Is the number me? Is it a queue? Is it the images?
why don’t the numbers go down? follows my thoughts as they move between possibilities and memories. You hear me trying to put into words my hopes, frustrations, anxieties, and fears."
