"Agora" is built from 1200 still images captured contiguously in a circular walk around the remains of the Middle Stoa in the ancient Athens agora, which gave the Stoic philosophers their name. Inspired by Stoic theories of perception, movement is here refigured as displacement, and the image as an unstable fluctuation between matter and light, all of which are indifferent to human will.
