Wounded Edges is my emotional response to the 2022 forest fire on Monte Gambarogno in Ticino, Switzerland. Shot on 16mm and hand-developed with the forest’s ashes, each frame carries physical traces of the burned landscape. The soundscape – improvised with charred wood, contact microphones on trees, and field recordings – echoes the forest’s wounds. Blending destruction with resilience, the film reflects on human impact, impermanence, and the haunting beauty of transformation.
