The instability and volatility of the hand-cranked camera technique characterize the film, whose title refers to the German classic Menchen am Sonntag (1930), - a famous example of the influence of history and the passage of time on cinematic interpretation. The inexorable passage of time and the beautiful fragility of life are central themes in both films. Does humankind learn anything from history, or are we doomed to repeat the same mistakes over and over again?
