Carlos VÁSQUEZ MÉNDEZ

Carlos Vásquez Méndez's practice lies between the visual arts, sound and cinema. His work consists of installations, performances,
sound pieces and films in which he explores the representation of time in the spatial dimension of the media he uses, stretching the boundaries between the historical and the intimate. In his work, he experiments with both introspective memory and the resonance of the non-human past.

His works have been shown in Jeonju, FIDMarseille, MoMI, Cineteca Mexicana, First Look, OpenCity London, Xcèntric, Black Canvas, BPI/ Centre Pompidou and many more. He has received the Joris Ivens/Centre National des Arts Plastiques Award at Cinéma du Réel (FRA) in 2016 and the Mayor's Prize in Yamagata in 2019, among others.

His installations and film performances
have been exhibited at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, La Capella, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Fabra i Coats and Arts Santa Mònica
