Arianne Olthaar (*1970) is a visual artist based in The Hague, the Netherlands. She portrays and documents disappearing, hidden and fictional interiors in film, photography and miniature models. The focus is on interiors that are somehow secluded and easily overlooked - such as the interiors she remembers from her dreams, a fictional Rainer Werner Fassbinder film set, the spacious and luxurious state hotels of the former Eastern Bloc in the 1970s and 80s, or the 'bathroom architecture' of European zoos from the 1960s and 70s.
Olthaar's work has been shown internationally at exhibitions and film festivals including International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, EMAF, New York Film Festival, Videoex, Media City Film Festival, IFFR, Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin.
