Anniversary screening at Studio des Ursulines, introduced by Emmanuel Lefrant, director of Light Cone
Studio des Ursulines, the first avant-garde cinema, celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2026. To mark the occasion, the cinema will be screening legendary films from its history throughout the year, including the February 9, 1928 screening of The Seashell and the Clergyman, Germaine Dulac's surrealist masterpiece based on a screenplay by Antonin Artaud, which sparked a scandal when it premiered at the Ursulines.
For this anniversary screening, Light Cone invites viewers to rediscover the film in its original 35mm format and in the version restored under its direction by Éclair Classics in 2021, with the support of the CNC.
