Artist and director, Johanna Vaude creates eclectics movies. As it develops, her art reveals various periods, starting from Super 8 and hand painted films, then going to hybridization and mix of medias, techniques and genres. Her films and videos, based on the relation between images and sound, touch on a very wide range of themes. She proposes a free and wild cinema, without rules and dogmas. With her very special hybridization technique, her work goes beyond established boundaries. Her films and videos are shown through out the world and focuses are devoted to her in spite of the fact that they are produced out of the traditional ways. 2005 : Court-Circuit magazine, a production of ARTE, the French-German TV channel, realises a portrait of the artist. 2006 : Carte blanche at the Cinémathèque Française given by Nicole Brenez and entitled “Transplant, fusion, heredity : hybridization and new technologies according to J.Vaude”. 2007 : “Hybrid” DVD edited by Lowave with the support of CNC. 2008 : an excerpt of « L’oeil sauvage » [first price of avant-garde films in 2000 awarded by Maurice Lemaître] was integred inside TH.2058, an installation created by Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster for the Tate Modern Gallery. Since 2011, Blow Up, the new arte.tv webzine dedicated to cinema actuality and introduced by Luc Lagier, gives her on a regular basis Carte Blanche on various themes and directors.
