For Light Cone's 30 years anniversary, the Pompidou Centre presents six programs of films from Light Cone's collection.
This frist screening will be followed by a cocktail.
In 1982, Yann Beauvais and Miles McKane founded Light Cone. Thirty years later it would become one of the most important collections of experimental film in Europe and throughout the world. Its catalogue is made up of nearly 3,500 films, videos and digital works, representing all of the major avant-garde movements.
The filmmakers whose work was shown at the very first Scratch screenings, as well as those who submitted their films to the collection as early as 1982, also played an essential role in the history of the organization. A number of other individuals also contributed to Light Cone through their work as volunteers or as employees. This screening is conceived as an homage to them as well as an opportunity to show “expanded cinema” works – a field explored by filmmakers associated with Light Cone from the very beginning – as four films on the program are dual screen projections.
