Kengné Téguia is an artist, based in Paris. First self-taught, he joined the Nantes School of Fine Arts in 2014, then the ENSAPC in 2017. He also studied computer science and worked in this field as a network administrator. He has collaborated with the collectives, The Cheapest University, Black(s) to the Future, The Community. His writings have been published in the magazine The Funambulist, his works presented in spaces such as Bétonsalon, Gaïté Lyrique, Galerie Treize, BFI Southbank, Wexner Center for the Arts, Mix NYC,...


"From film to film, Kengné Téguia immerses us in universes in which the body and its sound emanations through the breath, the word, or the scream question the relationship we have with sound. And more specifically with the attribution of a place for the sound emission and it's reception. Each proposal involves what an "augmented" or un-augmented body can do. The discrepancy between sounds and images is explored through multiple strategies that undermine our expectations, as much as they shake up our formatting of good hearing.

The traffic of images as well as sounds are the mark of the implementation of devices that link us to the world in constantly evolving ways, the circuits are indirect, and are effective in their dysfunctions; their delays, their gaps. Audiovisual and visual translations become major issues in the affirmation of the minority group(s) whether they are of race, sexuality or "disability". Short-circuiting the devices that emit images and sounds, clearing their circuits, makes it possible to invest in other types of representations and other bodies. The emergence of intersectionality unfolds according to random ramifications in / of the transmission. The shimmering, the colors, the rawness of the interruptions play on/with our projections which make us doubt the relevance of what hearing means to us and what is at stake in our "policed" hearing."
