Nationality: Mexican
Teo Hernandez est né le 23 Décembre 1939 à Ciudad Hidalgo, au Mexique. Après des études en architecture, il fonde avec un ami le C.E.C (Centro Experimental de Cinematografia), à Mexico. En 1960, l'Institut Français de l'Amérique Latine finance le premier projet du groupe, un documentaire qui restera inachevé.
Il s'installe à Paris en 1966. De 1968 à 1975, il réalise des films en super 8 à Londres, Paris au Maroc et au Danemark. Puis accompagné de Michel Nedjar avec qui il tourne MICHEL LÀ BAS au Maroc, il voyage durant six ans en Inde, au Népal, en Grèce... De retour à Paris, il réalise SALOMÉ (1976), qui s'apparente à l'esprit d'Oscar Wilde. Il rencontre Gaël Badaud, avec qui il commence une longue série de collaborations où des éléments de son propre vécu sont incorporés aux films. En 1977, il réalise Cristo, qui fera partie d'une trilogie sur la passion avec Cristaux et Lacrima Cristi. En 1980, avec ses amis (Nedjar, Jakobois et Badaud) il fonde le groupe MétroBarbèsRochechou Art.

Sa vie et son oeuvre furent minutieusement consignées dans son journal ainsi que dans les dossiers préparatoires de ses films.
