To accompany the exhibition of the work of Maya Rochat, opening on June 7th, 2023, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie has invited Light Cone to present a series of three screenings of experimental films from its exceptional catalogue of over 6,500 titles.
The series will enter into dialogue with the work of Maya Rochat and its poetic reflections on the beauty of this world, its materiality and its transformations. The selected films will highlight the diverse approaches that filmmakers have adopted throughout history to evoke plant life, organic matter and nature in its many forms, against the backdrop of an era marked by the human impact on the rest of the living world (the Anthropocene). Most of the works in the program will be screened on film (16 mm or 35 mm).
The first and third screenings will be presented by Light Cone's director, Emmanuel Lefrant, while the second screening will be introduced by Miguel Armas, manager of film rentals and communication.
